TANABE CHIKUUNSAI II BOAT FORM HANAKAGO, ADAIR ESTATE - The low, elongated boat form flower basket uses wide, flexible bamboo slats interlaced in a dynamic and seemingly random pattern of intentionally disordered weave joining a twisted-rope handle of multiple bamboo strands secured to the body with vigorous informal wrapping that flows into the rim. The deep, rich mahogany patina highlights the varying widths of the bamboo, giving the piece a weathered, ancient quality. Accompanied by its liner and signed paulownia wood storage box.
