This work is listed as Sandzen card catalogue #1807 in the section for the year 1942. It previously belonged to Margaret Sandzen Greenough (1909-1993), who sold it to a Salina, Kansas collector whose parents had collected the work of Birger Sandzen and The Prairie Print Makers before her. This high impasto composition leads the viewer's eye from a gently rolling foreground to a distant rugged mountain peak across ascending terrain of shifting angles and interlocking forms that make the buildings seem more like cliffs than structures. The work is a mosaic of thousands of perfectly placed brush strokes. Board measures 22 x 28 with a framed size of 27.5 x 33.5 inches.
