This painting and a similar work in this auction were purchased from a member of the artist's family. Each was exhibited in Return to the Heartland: Rediscovering George Van Millett, 10 September - 6 November 2011, Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art, Saint Joseph, Mo. A copy of the accompanying publication by Lynn Mackle is included.
