Meir Aron Goldschmidt (1819-1887) was a Danish fiction writer, playwright and liberal journalist, and a writer of Danish Jewish life.
Goldschmidt's most significant work is the novel the Jew. It develops a problem
assimilation of the Jewish intelligentsia, which suffers humiliation at every step from the "Christian" society; the latter in every possible way prevents
merging the Jewish intelligentsia with the environment, sharply emphasizing national differences,
due to "fatal" origin and traditional upbringing.
