First Edition “Ohev Yisrael” Authored by Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel of Apta; Zhitomir, 1863

Holy novellae on the parshiyos authored by Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel of Apta.

Sefer Ohev Yisrael is a fundamental Chassidic text.

In his introduction, Rabbi Meshulam Zusha of Zhinkov, the grandson of the Ohev Yisrael, reasons why the sefer is titled “Ohev Yisrael", explaining that this was one of the Admor’s most dominant traits. "...He can be glorified with this trait even before the Heavenly court, for his love for his fellow Jews was ingrained in his heart".

Indeed, the Ohev Yisrael directed that this be the only description written upon his gravestone.
This sefer includes endorsements from Rabbi Aharon of Chernobyl and Rabbi Avraham Yaakov of Sadigura.

This first edition was published in Zhitomir, 1863, by the brothers, Rabbi Chanina Lipa and Rabbi Yehoshua Heschil Shapira, grandsons of the Rabbi of Slavita.

[1], 117 leaves, good condition, professional restorations throughout sefer.
