AN ORIGINAL SOVIET INK DRAWING ON PAPER 1937
Pencil and ink on paper. The inscription at the top in Cyrillic: "Dve osi mira" ["Two axes of the world"]. The drawing contrasts two parts of the world. A banner flutters over the Soviet Union, and direct swift lines pass through it. On the contrary - the countries of the rest of the world tormented by huge birds. Probably, iconographically this part of the drawing was depicted by the artist under the impression of the etching by Francisco Goya “The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters”. Bottom left signature: “V. Rogov. 1937. "
