A VINTAGE ARMY COMPASS. POLAND, 1930s

W.JEZNACKI - Polish company (Warsaw), built in the 1930s as a successor to G. GERLACH. It developed a model of a marching army compass, named K.M.32 on the initials of its inventor, Colonel Mikołaj Kulwieć, who was born on March 24, 1890.The compass is also known in Poland as the "Kulwieć compass". Mikołaj Kulwieć - A Polish officer (colonel) who developed a compass called M.K.32 (or K.M.32) named after his initials. He participated as a captain in 1921 in the mission of Polish officers in France (this, perhaps, is the reason for the great resemblance to the French compass Modele 1922).In addition, he worked from 1928 to 1930 for the Research Institute of Military Equipment (Instytut Badań Materiałów Uzbrojenia) and participated in many evaluation and acceptance commissions of such equipment. In 1934, he was the head of the department of military equipment as part of the Polish Ministry of Defense.
