HERMANN GORING IS APPOINTED GENERAL OF INFANTRY
HERMANN GORING IS APPOINTED GENERAL OF INFANTRY
A most unusual signed document, the official appointment of Hermann Goring to serve as a 'General of Infantry', certainly out of character with his entire career having been with the Luftstreitkrafte and the Luftwaffe. The hand-inked document, 1p. 10 x 14 in., was executed in Berlin on August 20, 1933 and is boldly signed at the conclusion by General and future Field Marshal WILHELM KEITEL (1882-1946). The appointment is made in the name of Reichspresident PAUL VON HINDENBURG, with Hitler in the position of Chancellor. Goring undoubtedly obtained this position to give him heightened control over army forces as he held the office of Minister Chancellor of Prussia. A couple of negligible marginal spots, else very good to fine.
