ERICH HARTMANN

(1922 - 1993) German ace, the top ace of all time, with 352 aerial kills during which he never lost a wingman. Captured and held by the Soviets for ten years. Excellent limited-edition color print by ROBERT TAYLOR, the first of a trilogy dedicated to Hartmann, titled 'Sting of the Black Tulip', 33 x 25.25 in., no. 607/850, depicting Hartmann leading a group of pilots in an ambush of Russian fighters in 1943. Both Hartmann and the painter sign in pencil at the bottom. Sold with certificates of authenticity and supplementary booklet. All in fine condition.
