ERICH SCHNEIDER
(1894 - 1980) German general in the Wehrmacht during World War II, a recipient of the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves. He commanded the 4th Panzer Div. following the Battle of Kursk, ant the 14th. Infanterie in the retreat from Poland. T.L.S. on his personal letterhead, 1p. 4to., Bensheim, Jan. 6, 1961 in German to a researcher. In part: '...I can see you are dealing with a historical problem...If I can help you, I am happy...I propose everyone write in their native language...This ensures that you express your own thoughts exactly...'
