FRANZ BOHME
(1885 - 1947) Austrian general, Commander of the XVIII Mountain Corps, Commanding General in the Balkans, and commander-in-chief in German-occupied Norway. Bohme was tried for the massacre of thousands of Serbian civilians and committed suicide in prison. Great lot of four Nuremberg legal documents, each 5-15 pp. folio, likely given to Bohme while he awaited his hearing, explaining the trial's rules of procedure, providing the constitution and jurisdiction of the military courts of the German military occupied government, listing the articles and stipulations behind the charge of "crime against humanity", and generally giving the defendant related procedural information. Bohme signs his surname in green indelible at the top of each document, notably underlining passages related to his war crimes sentence, including: "...War crimes. Violent acts or offenses against the body, life, or property...including murder, ill-treatment of prisoners of war...crimes against humanity...that someone has acted under the command of his government...does not release him from responsibility..." Some staple holes, else very good. Faced with the prospect of deportation to Yugoslavia to face charges of mass murder of civilians, Bohme leaped to his death from his prison window.
