M1940 COMBAT HELMET
German M1940 combat helmet, identifiable by its rolled rim and embossed vent holes. The exterior is finished dark green-gray, while the interior is finished dark brown. An SS "sig" rune decal, most likely spurious, has been applied beneath the vent hole on the right-hand side. The rear interior skirt bears the spurious inscription "2./SS TV4 Ostmark" in artificially aged white paint. The rear skirt is also heat stamped "1257", while the left-hand skirt is stamped "ET62", indicating manufacture by the Eisenhuttenwerke at Thale. The interior is also fitted with an eight-fingered brown leather liner, size-stamped "54". No chin strap is present. The helmet shows appreciable wear overall, sold as is due to spurious alterations.
