SHRAPNEL-DAMAGED WEHRMACHT M40 HELMET
German steel M1940 combat helmet, identifiable by its rolled rim and embossed vents, finished in flat grey with a light sand texture and bearing a slightly-eroded national shield decal at the right side of the shell. The entire piece remains heavily worn and oxidized, yet the left-hand rim bears a manufacturer's mark, of which only the letters "N...4" remains legible. The shell towards the right-hand side bears a ragged hole, very likely from shrapnel. Missing liner and chinstrap, estimated accordingly.
