ALLGEMEINE-SS OFFICER''S PRIVATE PURCHASE TUNIC

Rare example of an Allgemeine-SS officer's tailor-made M32 tunic, fashioned of high-quality black wool with high-rolled cuffs. Four silver pebbled buttons close the garment, and similar buttons are used to secure the four slightly canted pockets which bear straight-cut flaps. As is standard and expected with this type of Allgemeine-SS uniform, there is a single shoulder board on the right shoulder, constructed of braided black-and-white cord and secured by a silver pebbled button, with no shoulder board present on the left shoulder. Unfortunately, collar tabs are not present, yet tiny holes and small loose threads at the area suggest that they had once been affixed. The right-hand sleeve bears a rank chevron insignia with a single stripe, while the left-hand cuff bears a black rayon cuff title with the embroidered numeral "2" in white thread, designating the officer's assignment to the 2nd SS-Fuss-Standarte ("foot soldiers"). The garment's black rayon lining bears two horizontal slash pockets, one at each side. The inside of the right-side pocket has been torn, rendering it unusable, yet not visible on an interior or exterior view. Manufacturer's stamps and ownership labels absent. In fine to very fine condition, with all buttons present. A fine piece.
