JAPANESE EMBROIDERED FLAG
Ornate Japanese flag, 38.5 x 25.5 in., featuring an embroidered red, white, and gold embroidered cockade at center, embroidered Japanese kanji in the top-left corner in gold thread, all surrounded by a blue border. The hoist corners bear gilded reinforcements, and one corner bears a 10 in. tassel. Some overstitched threads have come loose, some spots of red staining throughout, else very good. Our consignor indicates that the item is a Japanese aviation flag, though similar examples could not be found through our research.
