1839 promotional papers for Stephen Northrop to the Rank of Captain of the 6th Regiment Cavalry in NY. Signed by William H Seward then Governor of New York on April 24, 1839. Seward would go on to become Secretary of State under Lincoln and Johnson after Lincoln's death. the signature is nice and clear. The paper is in excellent condition with a lightly visible state seal. Measures approx. 15 1/4" long x 9 3/4" wide. You are bidding at a live sale, please read the terms and conditions.
