MAHLER ALMA: (1879-1964) Born Alma Schindler. Austrian Composer and Author. Spouse of Gustav Mahler 1902-11. A good A.L.S., Alma Mahler-Werfel, two pages, 8vo, New York, 10th February 1943, on the St. Moritz, New York, printed stationery, to Mrs Edmonds. Alma Mahler with her usual large writing, and in purple fountain pen ink, thanks her correspondent for the letter received and states in part `My husband has too much to do now …I can´t see the possibility to come.. Both of us were ill…but perhaps later in Spring we may see each other..´ Alma Mahler refers in the present letter to her third husband Franz Werfel (1890-1945) an Austrian Novelist and Playwright. Accompanied by the original printed stationery envelope, postmarked and stamped, and addressed in her hand. VG
