ROSSINI GIOACHINO: (1792-1868) Italian Composer. A rare and excellent D.S., `Gioachino Rossini´, two pages, 4to, thin paper, Paris, 15th March 1866, in Italian. The partially printed document being the official application form presented to register the copyright of one of his operas Le Siege de Corinthe in Milan, Italy. The document states in part `Gioachino Rossini intending to formally reserve the rights due to the author, according to the law from 25th June 1865, presents the opera with grand score for orchestra..´ Rossini signs beneath the opera title `L´assedio dil Corinto´, and the date of the premiere ''1826''. Signed at the base by the prefect secretary. Bearing an official taxation stamp to the upper left front corner and two ink stamps of the Italian ministry to the front and verso. Also bearing to the verso a contemporary registry annotation related to Rossini and his opera, dated in Florence, on 1st of May 1866. Very small hole not affecting the text or signature, and very small tear to the bottom edge, otherwise G Le Siege de Corinthe (1826) is a three acts opera by Rossini premiered in Paris in 1826, and was Rossini´s first French opera.
