WILLIAM V: (1748-1806) Prince of Orange, the last Stadtholder of the Dutch Republic. A.L.S., W. Pr. Of Orange, one page, 4to, Hampton Court [Palace, London], 14th September 1799, to a gentleman (name indecipherable). The main body of text is written by the Prince of Orange in the third person, asking his correspondent if he will be good enough 'to let know to Lt. Gibbons that he will be after tomorrow in town at his house in Conduit Street No. 32 between One and Two P.M., but if Lt. Gibbons desires to see him sooner he will be at Hampton Court to day and tomorrow' and further adding 'His wish is that the colours (?) may be brought to him with so few outward appearance as possible and specially if it happens in London, that it may not attract a crowd before his house'. With blank integral leaf. A curious, intriguing letter. Some light age wear and minor discoloration to the edges, a few small neat repairs to a couple of minor splits and a few very small areas of paper loss, none of which affect the signature, G
