Several lengthy handwritten glosses, three of which are signed: "Ya'akov HaLevi."
The gaon Rabbi Yosef Dov HaLevi Soloveitchik [1820-1892] was the patriarch of the glorious Brisk dynasty, one of the rabbinic leaders of his generation. He served as secondary rosh yeshivah in the Volozhin yeshivah and then as rabbi of Slutzk, followed by serving in the rabbinate of Brisk, Lithuania. He is known by the name of the book before us, as the author of Beit HaLevi.
32; 38 leaves, 23 cm.
Fine condition. Brittle paper. Aging stains. Tears without lack in the margins of some of the leaves. Dismantled binding.
