VERY RARE RUSSIAN JEWELLED SILVER CHARKA SHAPED as a BIRD
Whimsical Russian silver charka in the form of a bird with malachite beak and ruby tip, claw feet, ruby eyes, gilt interior.
Stamped 88 silver standard and 20A Hallmark.
20A is the stigma of the 20th Jewelers Artel (association) of Moscow. The artel was created at the end of the XIX century and was engaged in making silver products decorated with multicolor enamel and natural stones.
The superiority in manufacturing of these items belonged to A.P. Ovchinnikov. His masters, who were working in the artel, used the acquired knowledge to create their pieces.
