Fancy album of pictures drawn by the artist Henryk Hechtkopf, who was born in Warsaw. Nalbeki Street, Tlometzky Synagogue, Moranov Square, Mila Street, the house of I.L. Peretz and more. The pictures reflect the enormity of the destruction.
Hechtkopf, who lost almost all his family in the Holocaust, returned to Warsaw and drew the ruins. He lived in Lodz, there he founded the Union of Jewish Artists and Painters. In 1949, he designed the first postage stamp in the world honoring the Holocaust and won first prize in an international competition for posters commemorating the Holocaust. In 1957, he immigrated to Israel with his wife and lived in Bat Yam. Most of his pictures are illustrations for children's books.
