Letter Handwritten and Signed by Rabbi Yehuda Leib Chasman to Rabbi Yosef Kahaneman, the Rabbi of Ponevezh, about the Plan of the Chafetz Chaim to Strengthen the Torah in Jewish Communities through the Center of Agudat Yisrael. Before 1930. Special Item
Letter from Rabbi Yehuda Leib Chasman, the author of 'Or Yahel', to his friend, Rabbi Yosef Kahaneman, the rabbi of Ponevezh. In the letter, Rabbi Chasman describes the desire of the Chafetz Chaim to carry out the plan according to which rabbis will travel to Jewish communities and towns in Europe in order to teach, strengthen and support. Rabbi Chasman adds that they are expecting the "center" (probably of Agudat Yisrael) to pay the salaries and expenses of these rabbis. The letter mentions additional names such as Rabbi Rabinowitz, Rabbi (Ya'akov) Rosenheim (it seems that Rabbi Chasman trusted him more than others since he notes in the letter that he does not want to write to anyone beside him). At the end of the letter, Rabbi Chasman signed, as was his custom, with the initials YAHEL (in the name of his books).
Rabbi Yehuda Leib Chasman, the author of 'Or Yahel' (1869-1936) was among the leaders of the Mussar movement. The rabbi of Rabbi Shalom Schwadron and many more. He was very close to the Chafetz Chaim.
