Collection of older and newer Andean songs and werser.
Collection of older and newer Andean songs and Werser. New and improved Uplaga is a hymn book printed in Stockholm by the printer and author Carl Fredrik Marquard (1766?-1809), who ran his printing house in house number 31 on Stora Glasbruksgatan on Södermalm in Stockholm.
A hymn book with the same title had been printed, also in Stockholm, by the printer Johan a [rvid] Carlbohm, 1795. It then covered 356 pages and was published in 12: o format. Marquard's version contained 380 pages and was in 8:o format. Both hymn books came out while the 1695 hymn book was the official hymn book of the Church of Sweden.
The version Marquard had printed was approved for printing by the Stockholm consistory on december 10, 1805. The work contains numbered 894 lyrics and verses under 51 main headings. A verse register, which for the time being is unusual, refers to the song number and facilitates the occasions when some texts only include a selection of verses from more well-known songs with different introduction. The book also contains a ”Melodie Register, according to the order found in a German Choral book, printed at Breitkopf in Leipzig in 1784.
