letter from R' Hirsh son of the Dayan Rabbi Yessachar Katz of Furth. Blieskastel, (then France, today Germany). 1801. In his hand writing and signature.


[1] page, 22 cm. Hebrew and a little Yiddish. Attached is a page with a letter mostly typewritten. The letter allows a unique peak into the Torah life of a youth at the border of France and Germany in the beginning  of the 19th century.


In this letter R' Hirsh the son of the Dayan Rabbi Yessachar Katz of Furth writes to his friend Gavriel about the receipt of his letter, on his offer to visit Rabbi Avraham of Vorbach, and offering him to come to Sarreguemines to converse with him in Divrei Torah, about the questions he asked from Rabbi Avraham and did not receive an answer, and about questions he has on Tractate Brachot and more. The writer also sends regards to his family and friends.


Fold marks, ink stains on individual words. General condition good.
