A letter regarding Shemittah, with a few lines in the handwriting of the Chazon Ish.
Rabbi Avraham Yeshaya Karelitz, son of Rabbi Shemaryahu Yosef, Rabbi of Kossovo in Lithuania. One of the greatest rabbinic personalities of the past century, known by the title of his voluminous halachic writings ‘Chazon Ish’. Rabbi Karelitz lived in Vilna, where he was greatly respected by Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzenski and other contemporary rabbinic figures. He settled in Eretz Yisrael in 1933, and gradually became widely recognised as one of the greatest contemporary rabbinic authorities, particularly after WWII. The Chazon Ish was heavily involved in the establishment of Yeshivos and guided the development of orthodox Jewish life in Eretz Yisrael.
