Etching on paper, 53 x 33 cm
La Campagne de Rome is an original artwork realized by the French artist Antoine Claude Ponthus-Cinier in 1865.
Titled and signed on the lower margin. Published by Cadart & Luquet Editeurs.
Very fresh artwork representing an ancient landscape in Rome with two figures in the center of the composition. The print is very fresh and the impression is characterized by dark strokes and high contasts.
This artwork was realized by the French artist Antoine Claude Ponthus-Cinier (Lyon, 1812 - 1885). He is one of the most importart artists of the school of Lyon and a founding father of the Neoclassical movement. He is also one of the successors of XVIII century landscape painting after Giovan Antonio Canaletto. In 1829, he attended the School of Fine Arts of Lyon, and became one of the pupils of Paul Delaroche in Paris.
Good conditions, except for a small hole on the upper margin.
