ADOLF HITLER
(1889 - 1945) Fuhrer of Germany and Nazi Party leader, Hitler's bloody rise to power, his military seizure of most of Europe and North Africa and his genocidal racial policies culminated in suicide in his Berlin bunker as Russian troops approached. Incredibly rare D.S. on 'Der Fuhrer' letterhead, 1p. large 4to., Berghof, Aug. 7, 1939, authorizing twelve S.S. 'Standarts' to display banner flags at the planned 1939 Reichsparteig ('Nuremberg Rally') - the last 'Reichsparteig' to be planned by the Third Reich, which would be cancelled one day before the event due to the German invasion of Poland. The listed 'standarts' include: 95. SS Standarte 'Risengebirge'; 96. SS Standarte 'Bruex'; 97. SS Standarte 'Egerland'; 98. SS Standarte 'Schonhengst-Gau'; 99. SS Standarte 'Sudmahren'; 100. SS Standarte 'Sudeten'; 101. SS Standarte 'Saaz'; 102. SS Standarte 'Jagerndorf'; 103. SS Standarte 'Nordbohmen'; 104. SS Standarte 'Troppau'; 105. SS Standarte 'Memelland'; and 106. SS Standarte 'Schwaben'. Signed by Hitler at conclusion. Uneven toning, likely from previous framing, else very good. The 1939 Nuremberg Rally, scheduled for September 2nd to 11th, was given the name 'Rally of Peace' to prove to European nations that Germany wished to avoid war… ironically, Germany began its offensive against Poland one day before the event, igniting World War II and leading to its cancellation.
