FIDEL CASTRO
(1926 - 2016) Cuban revolutionary who led the guerilla campaign against Batista, overthrowing the dictator and replacing him with the first communist government in the Western Hemisphere. Typed D.S. on 'Republica De Cuba, Presidencia' letterhead, 2pp. folio, Presidential Palace, Havana, Feb. 23, 1959, an official document amending Law No. 101 regarding fingerprint portfolios and establishing new costs for the process. The document is signed on February 23, 1959, 'in the year of liberation', since the Batista regime fell on Dec. 31, 1958. Castro signs at conclusion on the second page as Prime Minister, adding his initials on the left margin of the first page. Nicely double-matted with four b/w photographs of the revolutionary leader, overall size 29.5 x 24 in. Filing holes, paper loss not affecting text and minor foxing throughout, first page has been horizontally split yet repaired, else very good condition. Not examined out of frame.
