Fine grouping of 12 diplomas, certificates, etc. issued to Dr. Lucius Wales Hotchkiss (1859-1926), a particularly well educated physician trained at Columbia College in New York who became a fellow of the American Surgical Association. Included is: a terrific 1886 illustrated diploma issued by New York's famous Bellevue Hospital, 1886, certifying Hotchkiss' service as intern and surgeon, signed by 36 doctors and administrators; 1884 medical degree issued by Columbia College and signed by nine department heads; 1884 honor certificate from the College of Physicians and Surgeons (Columbia), signed by JOHN C. CURTIS (1844-1913), a founder of the American Physiological Society; 1881 Baccalaureate degree from Columbia College, signed by 13 professors; 1889 membership certificate in the Medical Society, County of New York; 1888 membership certificate in the New York Pathological Society signed by WILLIAM P. NORTHRUP; 1905 fellowship certificate in the New York Academy of Medicine signed by CHARLES L. DANA (1852-1935); certificate of membership in the Medical Reserve Corps Association, 1918, signed by Capt. GEORGE LUNG who served in Sampson's squadron in the Spanish-American War and Brig. Gen. EDWARD L. MUNSON; four other certificates; and one letter of transmittal. Overall very good. 12 pieces.
