It sounds smooth and looks magnificent". Violin with the certificate of authenticity.
Information:
Franz (Franziskus) Herzleib was Austrian luthier from the city of Graz. It is known that he was a talented wood sculptor, but we do not know who taught him make violins. In 1828 he filed a request for the right of violin making and he got it on December 17th 1829. Franz Herzleib made copies of Stradivari and Guarneriа for which typically used top-quality wood and beautiful red-brown varnish for their violins. It is known that he sent string quartet to the World Fair in London in 1851, which indicates the high quality of his works. Luthier Palfner reported, that Franz Herzleib's quartet was honored with gold medal. Franz Herzleib also made plucked string instruments, and his bass guitar now is in the collection of old musical instruments (Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna).
