A SINHALESE KASTANE SWORD, SRI LANKA, 18 CENTURY
Kastane is a short traditional ceremonial/decorative single-edged Sri Lankan sword. The hilt is made of chiseled silver as a stylized monster "Makara" with the head forming the pommel, intricately chiseled bronze crossguard, bronze head with inlaid jaws and tongue, the grip inlaid with silver, and the guards forming further dragons heads inlaid with silver and bronze. The blade is thick and chiseled and inlaid with panels of engraved brass, very fine work overall.

Condition: The blade is slightly pitted, the pommel is missing a part of the silver rib, scabbard is mising
