"The prayer of Jews at the Western Wall shall not cease!" – Touching Letter from Knesset Member Menachem Porush to Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin – 1994
Rabbi Menachem Porush wrote this long letter to Yitzchak Rabin on 6.3.1994.
In this interesting letter, Porush expresses, with much pathos, his great amazement at Rabin's decision to temporarily forbid Jews to pray at the Western Wall. This order was given as a temporary order on the Friday after Bruch Goldstein had massacred Moslem worshipers in the Cave of Machpela. It was given due to the fear of acts of revenge of Moslem worshipers on Temple Mount on this day.
Porush writes that Jews have never ceased praying at the Western Wall and have never been prevented from doing so, except during the days of the Jordan rule. He adds that it is shameful that under Israeli sovereignty such a thing can happen.
A letter amazing in its intensity!
