Rare Zionist booklet by the author Shalom Rabinowitz, better known under his pen name Shalom Alechem. The booklet is written in vowelized Yiddish.
The booklet was published during the first days of Zionism, after the first Zionist Congress in Basle. In it, Shalom Alechem discusses the history of Chibat Zion, since the poetry of Rabbi Yehuda Ha'Levi and others to the appearance of the Zionist movement in his days.
Shalom Alechem (1859-1916) was one of the greatest Yiddish writers. He acted to promote the Zionist idea. He wrote propaganda booklets and Zionist stories in Yiddish, participated in the Zionist congresses and was in contact with the leaders of the Zionist movement.
The booklet has a green jacket. An additional title page with a Hebrew text and Cyrillic script.
Sholdberg Printing Press. On the last page, an advertisement for the books of the "Achi'asaf" company and a page of "new books on Judaism and the Zionist idea".
