Hagaon Harav Baruch Bendit Goitein, Av Beis Din of Hőgyész,  gained repute among world Jewry for his phenomenal work Kessef Nivchar (Prague, 1827). In his written endorsement to the sefer, the Chasam Sofer extolled the praises of this work, expressing that its method of study is the ideal method, and “He did not utilize the common sophisticated discourses that confuse straight knowledge and pervert the course and pathways of truth. To the contrary, this work shall be a guide to all Torah learners, how to gather hand by hand, until the words of Torah are sharp in their mouths, each topic preserved and clear…”

The content of the verdict regards a fiscal agreement between two spouses, in which the husband bequeaths his wife money during his lifetime and the wife forgives all her husband’s liabilities, her kesubah, support, etc.

Hőgyész, 1834. Greenish paper. Page size: 19x24 cm. Written in Yiddish. Handwritten and signed by Harav Baruch Bendit Goitein, with supplementary signatures by the community shammash and trustee. Several light stains.
