Seder Tefillas Yisrael. Jerusalem, 1842. Attractive Copy.
“They are published in a holy place by holy Jews.”
First Siddur Printed in Jerusalem!

Order of Prayer for Weekday and Shabbos, Sephardic nusach, complete with Seder Tikkunei Shabbos, Piyyutim, laws and customs.

This rare and precious siddur was the first prayerbook printed in Yerushalayim!

The last page features a calendar for years 1843-1846, which was the first Jewish calendar printed in Yerushalayim

In his preface, Rabbi Yisrael Beck recounts the story of his publishing house in Tzfas and Yerushalayim. He then inscribes his prayer and blessing, “I trust in Hashem Yisborach that one who prays from the siddur that was printed here in the Holy City, his prayer shall rise directly via its mountains, and the Satan shall not block it from reaching his Master, for it was printed in a holy place by Yisrael, sons of holy Jews…”

Siddur Tefillas Yisrael was printed in Rabbi Yisrael Beck’s legendary printing house in Yerushalayim. The first pages feature historic endorsements by venerable Rabbanim of Eretz Yisrael, most notably Harav Aharon Moshe, founder of the Chassidic settlement in Yerushalayim.

Jerusalem, 1842. 152 leaves. Page size: 14 cm. Stained from use. Good condition. Attractive new binding.
