Fundamental Jewish Work: Sefer Kad Hakemach by Rabbeinu Bachya. First Edition, Constantinople 1515.
Foundations of Jewish faith, commandments and moral conduct, arranged by chapters in alphabetical order by the famous Torah commentator Rabbeinu Bachya.
The publishing house in Constantinople was either founded by refugees of the Spanish Expulsion or Jews who fled other Christian-ruled countries. In its early years (1504-1530), this printing house published many foundational Jewish works, some of which later became rare and highly sought-after sefarim.
Constantinople, 1515. First edition. 87 [1] side. 28.5 cm. The title page and colophon both feature the logo of the printer R’ Yehuda ben Shushan, which was an illustration of a lion standing on its hind legs.
Wide margins with rounded edges. Additional margins were artistically restored and added to the front of the book; margins restored on additional pages, as well. New, impressive blue and gold leather binding.
