M. Art. 1988, 292 p., Fig. Hardcover in a publishing box, size 33 x 41 cm. Excellent condition, small scuffs of the case and dust cover.

Printed and bound at the Globus printing house, Vienna, Austria. The album contains sketches of sets and costumes for performances from 1908 to 1929. In the history of the theater, there are performances whose huge, noisy success, being an expression of deep processes in the life of art, immediately raises them to the level of milestone events. They are kept in memory, as Nations remember great battles, and eyewitnesses tell their children and grandchildren about them, turning the past into legends. This is what happens when the features of a new content in art, born of the demands of time, long accumulated latently, suddenly abruptly, as if in an explosive wave, overturn conservative, dilapidated forms that hinder their development. This performance was the premiere of Hugo's drama 'Ernani`, which in 1830 began the offensive March of romanticism on the French stage, such was the production of` the Seagull' at the Moscow Art theater, which opened a new era in the stage art. The tour performances of the Russian Opera and ballet in Paris in 1908 and 1909 should also be considered as such events. They were called 'Russian seasons', as they were repeated over a number of years.
