Postcard handwritten and signed by Rabbi Aharon Yehoshua Landau, shamash of Admorim of Belz, send from Belz.
Postcard bearing the handwriting and signature of Rabbi Aharon Yehoshua Landau, the gabbay of Admorei Belz. Written from Belz during the reign of the Admor Rabbi Aharon of Belz, addressed to “Rabbanim HaMuflagim”, in which he notes that “your letter arrived to the Admor shlita…” with signature of the gabbay. Part of the letter has been cut and there is missing text (see picture). Size: 15x10.5cm.
The gabbay Rabbi Aharon Yehoshua Landau was appointed by the Admor Mahari, and then was the main gabbay for the Maharid and later for the Admor Mahara of Belz and ran the entire enterprise. He was himself descended from the Baal Shem Tov and other tzaddikim, and he was known as a talmid chacham. He died at the height of World War II in Premyslan and was therefore able to be buried.
