Chacham Chai Moshe de Pijuto [d. 1816] was the author of VaYachel Moshe (Vienna, 1814). He was the son and disciple of Chacham Hillel Chaim de Pijuto. Theirs was a wealthy family of impressive lineage who immigrated from Livorno, Italy, to Aleppo [Chaleb], Syria, in 1732. Rabbi Moshe Chai was an in-law of the Mahara"m Galanti, who wrote of him "He is the splendor of all his followers ... a complete sage, excellent adjudicator ... unique in the generations ... the man Moshe is very great." Engraved on his tombstone: "Wonder of the generation and its glory, from Moshe to Moshe no one arose like Moshe." (Material about him included.)

Fine condition. Aging stains. Tear without lack in the title page to the Rashb"a. Simple binding.
