Early Shulchan Aruch. Venice, 1594. Handwritten Completions


Shulchan Aruch, Choshen Mishpat and Even HaEzer. With 'Biur Milot HaYoter Hechrechiyot.' Two parts bound together with separate title pages. Di Gara Press. Venice, 1594. There are blemishes in approximately 15-20 leaves with lacks in the text that were completed in early script.


Shulchan Aruch [lit. a "Set Table"] before elders and youth, in a small volume so that it can be carried with them to study from it at all times and in all places. Before us is an early edition of the Shulchan Aruch, and one of the first editions of the Shulchan Aruch covered with the "tablecloth" ["מפה"] - which is the Ram"a's glosses on the Shulchan Aruch ["הגהות הרמ"א על השולחן ערוך"].


[Part III]: Even HaEzer. 116 leaves. Lengthy handwritten notation on the final leaf.

[Part IV]" Choshen Mishpat. 242, [2] leaves. With the table of halachahs ["לוח ההלכות"] for Choshen Mishpat, and with the poems on the last leaf.

18.5 cm. Printed in a small format with wide margins. Ginzei Yisrael 781. HaMadpis Juan Di Gara 145.

Fine condition: Aging stains. Partially detached leaves. Original leather binding, partially detached with blemish in the spine.
