KARL DONITZ
(1891-1980) German Grand Admiral, Supreme Commander of the German Navy, briefly succeeded Adolf Hitler as the German head of state in 1945. A.L.S. signed in full: 'Karl Donitz' on his personal letterhead, 1 page, 8.25 x 5.75 in., Aumuhle, May 18, 1977, in part: 'Dear Rudolf Jahns! You are again outdoing your male fellows: my heartfelt gratitude for the good bottle for fathers day and your kind words! Thank you and I wish you all the best! Best regards, your Karl Doenitz'. Includes transmittal envelope, which he signs a second time 'Donitz'. Fine.
