WWII BRITISH NAMED MEDAL GROUP S.A.A. (4)
WWII British medal group of four campaign medals, each with its respective ribbon. The medals are named to Gunner 1st Anti-Tank Battery S.A.A. Bombardier JOHN VAN NIEKERK (b. 1915), regimental number 143439. Van Niekerk went Missing in Action on 19/6/1942, but confirmed on 8/8/1942 to be a Prisoner of War, and was released 12/5/1945. Included are the 1939-1945 Star and the Africa Star, both are engraved '143439 J. Van Niekerk' on backside; the War Medal 1939–1945 and the Africa Service medal, both are engraved '143439 J. Van Niekerk' on the rim. Included are copies of four pages of Van Niekerk's service record. Very good.
