BERLIOZ HECTOR: (1803-1869), French Composer. A good multiple signed L.S., 'H.Berlioz', 1 page, 4to, Paris, 8th September 1862, on the Central Committee of the Musicians Artists printed stationery, to Baron Azemar, Colonel of the 6th Regiment of Lanciers, in French. The signatories of the letter thank Baron Azemar for his help and support `on the occasion of the concert we gave at the Pré Catalan on Sunday 7 September, for the benefit of our relief and pension fund for military and civilian musicians...´, further saying `If the weather would have helped, this great military musical contest which announcement received so much interest from the Parisian population, would have for sure improved the recipe..´ Countersigned by eighteen additional members of the 'Association des Artistes Musiciens', including Baron Taylor (1789-1879) as President, composers including Théodore Dubois (1837-1924), Ambroise Thomas (1811-1896), Eugène Jancourt (1815-1901), musicians including Charles-Louis Triebert (1810-1867), conductors including Joseph Ancessy (1800-1871). The 'Association des Artistes Musiciens' was an important mutual aid society founded by Baron Taylor in 1843, intended to give relief and pensions to musicians. The management was led by personalities such as Liszt, Berlioz or Meyerbeer. With blank integral leaf. Accompanied by the original envelope bearing to the verso the Musicians Association ink stamp.
