JOHN AUGUSTUS: (1878-1961) Welsh Painter. A.L.S., Augustus John, one page, 8vo, Fordingbridge, Hampshire, 8th January 1944, to Lady Anderson. John informs his correspondent that he has been detained with flu, but will be back in Tite Street this week and hopes that she will be able to visit, continuing 'I shall get on with the Spanish muchachas I hope. I did one of the Alba girl but want to do another. I found her very sweet & sympatico. I do not know their styles & titles so don't know how to ring them personally for sittings' and concluding by remarking 'I have the Horizons waiting for you in London. You must realize they will need drastic revision'. About EX Ava Anderson (1895-1974) Viscountess Waverley, second wife of John Anderson (1882-1958) 1st Viscount Waverley, British Civil Servant & Politician who served in the Cabinet during World War II.
