Halachic responsa on the four parts of the Shulchan
Oruch by R. Aaron Moshe Kisilov, Chief Rabbi of
Harbin.
Shortly before World War I, a small Jewish
community was established by Russian natives in
the city of Harbin, China. The first and last rabbi
of the congregation was R. Aaron Moshe Kisilov
(1866-1949), who was a disciple of the “Gadol
of Minsk” and R. Chaim Soloveitchik. He arrived
at Harbin in 1913 after serving for many years
in the Borisov Rabbinate in the region of Minsk,
and in 1937 he was appointed as chief rabbi of all
the congregations in the Far East. Following the
Chinese conquest of the city from the Japanese
authorities and the establishment of the communist
rule in China, the Hebrew congregation in Harbin
was eradicated.
The only halachic work printed in the entire
region.
Levitan press.2, 252, 2 pages. 32.5 cm. Fine condition,
some small tears not effecting text. Original boards,
reinforced spine.
