Rare Invitation to the Wedding of the Lubavitcher Rebbe – From the Mother of the Bride, Rebbetzin Nechama Dina Schneersohn – "For the Wedding Celebration of My Daughter Chaya Mushka"
Rare invitation to the wedding of Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneersohn – the Lubavitcher Rebbe, from his mother-in-law Rebbetzin Nechama Dina Schneersohn, wife of Rebbe Rayatz. Card printed in blue. [Warsaw, 1928].
Rebbe Rayatz wrote thirteen different invitations on the occasion of the wedding of his daughter Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka to R. Menachem Mendel Schneersohn, future Lubavitcher Rebbe. The invitations differ in their format, style and contents – according to the person being invited. Another invitation was sent by the parents of the groom, R. Levi Yitzchak Schneersohn and his wife Rebbetzin Chana, who were unable to come to Warsaw to attend their son's wedding, and held a large celebration in Yekaterinoslav to mark the wedding.
This is a rare invitation printed by the mother of the bride, Rebbetzin Nechama Dina Schneersohn, and sent to her close friends and acquaintances only. This invitation is only signed by Rebbetzin Nechama Dina (in print).
The invitation states: " I am honored to invite you to the wedding celebration of my daughter Chaya Mushka with the groom R. Menachem Mendel". The invitation indicates the location of the wedding ("In Warsaw, in the courtyard of the Tomchei Temimim yeshiva"), the date and time ("Tuesday, 14th Kislev, at five o'clock") and civil date (27th November. This is the only version of the invitation stating the Gregorian date). An address for sending telegrams is noted at the foot of the invitation (for confirming attendance).
14.5X8.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Horizontal folding mark. Creases and minor stains. Pen inscription. Restored.
