An interesting letter by Moshe Sharet after he resigned as Prime Minister of Israel - 16 Tammuz 5767
A handwritten and signature letter of Moshe Sharett in which he explains the reason that led him to resign from his position as Prime Minister. Tammuz 16, 1957.
In his letter, Sharett explains that after prolonged continuity in his position: "Continuity ... that I won - or was a victim of - there is a certain blessing in the break." And that it is acceptable without any appeal the principle that the prime minister is the one who chooses the ministers as he sees fit and he may at any time demand the resignation of a minister (in these words Sharett refers to what happened when in a vote of no confidence in the government At the time, the law did not allow for the dismissal of ministers, so Sharett himself resigned and formed a new government that day, which served for a short time until the elections to the Third Knesset on July 26, 1955.
After retiring as prime minister, Sharett wrote in his diary: "I do not have the power to run this country, the management of which is probably impossible without the need for adventure and deception. I am not capable of these two."
