RECEIPT ISSUED TO RABBI SHMUEL SALANT, FOR A DONATION FORWARDED TO THE DISKIN ORPAHANAGE IN YERHALAYIM. SIGNED BY RABBI YITZCHAK YERUCHAM DISKIN.
Receipt dated 1907 for a donation of 10 shillings to the Diskin Orpahanage in Yerushalayim by Rabbi Shmuel Salant on behalf of the community of ‘Freehide’ [?] in Africa, with signature of Rabbi Yitzchak Yerucham Diskin.
Rabbi Yitzchak Yerucham Diskin (1839-1925), son and successor to Rabbi Moshe Yehoshua Leib Diskin as head of the Diskin Orphanage and Yeshivas Ohel Moshe in Yerushalayim, where he was one of the leading rabbinic figures of the Ashkenazi community.
Rabbi Shmuel Salant (1806-1909), studied Torah in Salant and Volozhin, son-in-law of Rabbi Yosef Zundel Salant and settled in Yerushalayim in 1841, where he became Av Beth Din of the Ashkenazi community.
