BLOOD LIBEL IN GEORGIA 1878! UNIQUE LETTER FROM THE GEORGIA COMMUNITY TO SIR MOSES MONTRFIORE APPEALING FOR HELP REGARDING A BLOOD LIBEL. WITH ADDITION WRITTEN AND SIGNED BY RISHON LETZION RABBI AVRAHAM ASHKENAZI.
Letter from leaders of the Georgian community in Yerushalayim, Yechezkel b. Moshe and Eliyahu b. Yaakov, appealing to Sir Moses Montefiore to help the community suffering from the Blood Libels of 1877 and 1878.
The letter is countersigned with a few lines handwritten by Rishon Letzion Rabbi Avraham Ashkenazi.
Rabbi Avraham Ashkenazi (1811-1880), Dayan and Av Beis Din of the Sefardi community in Yerushalayim, who succeeded Rabbi Chaim David Chazan as Chief Rabbi and Rishon Letzion.
